Have used this set on multiple trips so far and it works really well! I would suggest getting some kind of support for the tank though, as it gets very tipsy. Also, make sure to pick up the correct size gas tank. The first tank I picked up was a normal, green Coleman tank and THEY DO NOT FIT. I had to go back and get another tank that was the right size. Here’s a tank that fits the burner: https://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Butane-Propane-Fuel-7-75/dp/B000PY9T0S

Okay, so I’ve had this thing for roughly 6 hours, beat the snot out of it (literally slipped and fell off the trail,) by crashing roughly 60 feet end over end through harsh brush and woods.

Came to a stop, scrabble bacteria to the trail 100% certain this thing was destroyed, and all I wanted was a cup of tea to calm down. Opened my pack, pulled it out, opened it up, and presto! Not a single dent. Fired right up. My cup was more messed up than this set!

Love the ease of set up, a real no brainer. Extra fork and spoon (to me) are pointless unless cooking for 2.

Definitely will be picking up this little guy for my family so they can have one too come the 4th of July’s camping trip.

Only minor, minor drawback, or something simply to be mindful of, is the handles on the fry pan. One was loose, so a small nudge from a ball peen hammer with a piece of wood in between, and it was snuggled right back up.

Folks, if you are into light packing, if you are looking for a first time stove, This is it.

It doesn’t break the bank, it is my kind of accident approved, and to top it off, it was here in 2 days. That’s quick as all get out!

great pots, ok (at best) accessories, July 2, 2016
    By

I used this cook set a few times and can definitely say that the pot and pan are great. They perform on gas, fire, and denatured alcohol tabs (Esbit). The tabs work ok with the set, but it’s a little too big for the tabs – the tabs work best with about 20 oz of water (tops).

The pot is perfect for a pot of premium ramen like nongshim ramyun. These take more than the typical 2 cups of water for regular 10 cent ramen. In the picture I’m getting a pot of spicy black going…wish I was back out backpacking!

If I was reviewing the pot and pan – i’d give it 5 stars easily. So i’ll now explain why I am giving it 4 stars…

The bowls – these things are tiny. They hold less than 4oz of water filled to the brim. Which renders them useless. I couldn’t even split my bowl of ramen in half and use that bowl. Why are they there if not solely to take up interior space and increase the piece count of the product?

Spork – this is the closest to decent of all the pieces. It works, but it’s not great. The odd shape make it unenjoyable to eat with…

Stove – it works too, actually i’d give it 4 stars alone. It’s not as good as the comparable etekcity stove. But it does work.

Serving spoon – that thing is just odd? I can’t figure it out…just seems like a bowl with a retractable handle?

Mini rice scoop – I guess if you want some rice in the back country? It’s a wooden spoon?

The loofa – that made me laugh.

The carry case – that was good, however, the toggle for closing it was rough to slide and didn’t function appropriately.

For me I used the pot, pan, and lid. I placed my esbit stove inside, my wood stove inside and a few other pieces like a lighter, via coffee packs, tea light candle, and some random condiments like mayo, mustard, pepper. Then left the rest of the pieces at home.

The stove will essentially function as my backup gas stove, but if you don’t have one it’s worth the approximately $5 extra for the set. I just personally prefer wood and esbit over gas.

Oh and don’t let your first time backpacker buddy use it without instruction. Mine only opened one handle and let the other stay in the flames! Surprisingly it didn’t melt!

I’d definitely say the stove is worth the investment, even though I was a little frustrated with the banged up packaging.

Pictures are a couple shots of ramen, the storage bag, the beat up box, and for comparison my 20 oz esbit pot making coffee water on the same wood stove as this pot cooking ramen.

I received this product in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
